BESTAR was founded in 1978 to serve the local German saw and knife manufacturing industry with raw material. Until today, more than 25 years later, BESTAR's undivided focus remains on companies that manufacturer various saws and knives.

BESTAR is a steel service center, but also we play an important part in consulting our customers. Also our customers are consulting us: Requirements on saws and knives are changing. So together we try to find out, which influence steel will have on a future orientated product. The outcome of those knowledge transfers may result in a continuous improvement of our steel supply. Dedicated, determined, dependable. Starting as a small local steel supplier in 1978 that has made BESTAR a global supplier serving the saw and knife manufacturing industry.

In July 2001 BESTAR started its operation out of Atlanta (Georgia, U.S.A.) as a subsidiary to BESTAR in Germany to serve the North- Central and South American market. In March 2006 BESTAR opened its liaison office in Shanghai (China) for the Asian market.
